Tour de Yorkshire Giant Banner

Animated Objects Community Arts ran a community project #thebigpicture, a competition for all key stage 2 primary school children in the Borough of Scarborough to draw a picture to promote the Tour de Yorkshire as it came through Scarborough.

The winning design, and those of 8 runners up too, were printed on a giant piece of land art, a 13m x 13m fabric banner (larger then two double decker buses), which they asked us to produce for them.

Funded by the Scarborough Borough Council as part of their community programme, the giant banner was digitally printed on Tokyo Flag fabric with grab handles sewn in every 2 metres all around. The children will hold the banner when it’s revealed at Scarborough Castle as part of the tour.
